Two fund-raisers are planned to help support the local Special Olympics curling team and figure skater who are headed to the nationals in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, next year.
The curling team of Tyler Jilek, Ryan Brodhagen, Jackie McDonald, Chris Weese and Brandon Carroll, and figure skater Rosie Laidler, won gold at the provincials in January, and will now begin training for the national winter games slated to run in February or March, 2016. The cost is estimated at $1,200 to $1,500 per athlete to send these talented individuals to the nationals.

A car wash is set for Saturday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Canadian Tire in Kincardine.
And a golf tournament will be held Friday, Aug. 14, at Ainsdale Golf Course, south of Kincardine, with a shotgun start at Noon. Cost is $125 per golfer which includes 18 holes of golf, power cart, dinner and a charitable receipt. For more information, contact Jim McDonald at jbmcdonald@tnt21.com or call 519-396-5733. There will be a silent auction and an excellent prize table at the tournament, and everyone will receive a prize or prizes. The local merchants have been very supportive with their donations, and will be recognized at the tournament.

Meanwhile, June 10, the Kincardine United Church Sunshine Unit hosted 30 supported individuals and staff with Community Living of Kincardine and District, for a luncheon and musical entertainment.
Everyone enjoyed the delicious homemade selections, and the lively music encouraged many to dance and sing.
