Team It's All Gone To Shitz has almost doubled its original fund-raising goal for the Gutsy Walk, slated for Sunday, June 7, in Walkerton.
The team held a yard sale, part of the Ripley village-wide event Saturday, May 16, and raised $705 for the cause, thanks to the generosity of everyone who came out. Since then, the team surpassed its $2,000 goal, hit $4,000, and has now set its sights on $5,000.
As of Thursday, the group had raised $4,425.69.
Led by Emily Lotton, who suffers from ulcerative colitis, the team includes her parents, Ron and Gail; her sisters, Kendra and Kathleen; her aunt, Bev Fry; and cousin, Kathy Drennan, along with Alyssa Kueneman and Harold Maurer.
The team is walking in honour of its captain, Emily, who is also the Grey-Bruce honourary chairperson for the 2015 Gutsy Walk.
Meanwhile, in Ripley, another group was holding a yard sale in support of the Ripley Walks for Cancer Relay for Life Team.
Around the corner, Ripley Reunion Central had just opened its doors on the southeast corner of the main intersection. Merchandise, including men’s and ladies' golf and baseball shirts, sweaters and T-shirts, as well as hats, beer mugs, plastic glasses, coolie cups and bottle openers, will be available from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
And finally, northeast in Bervie, the Bervie Women's Institute held its annual plant, yard and bake sale.
