Kincardine Kippers bring home medals from SWORSA finals in Baden

The South Western Ontario Recreational Swim Association (SWORSA) finals were held Saturday, Aug. 10, in Baden at the Wilmot Recreation Complex.

Only swimmers who competed and placed in the top eight at the semi-finals in Woolwich, July 27, qualified to compete in the finals.

The Kippers had some amazing swimmers, competing against strong swim teams from Woolwich and Fergus. Coaches David Kohut, Brent Urie, Heather Boettinger and Ken Corbett were proud of the team's performance.

In the girls eight and under age group, Audrey Kernighan, Dani Smith, Harmony Shute and Natalie Doran set a record for the 100-metre medley relay event.

In the boys 11-12 age group, Aaron Urie won the gold medal and set a new record in the 100-metre freestyle event.

In the girls 11-12 age group, Avery Chilton, Natalie Newton and Olivia Friesen tied for the bronze medal.

In the girls 13-14 age group, Lillian Egberts won the bronze medal.

In the boys open age group, Lucas Bronkhorst won the gold medal.
