Huron OPP supports Prescription Drug Drop-off Day May 9
(HURON COUNTY, ON) – Prescription medications can be misused in ways not intended by the physician who prescribes them. In an effort to help keep drugs out of the wrong hands, the Huron County OPP will be supporting the Prescription Drug Drop Off Day by participating in the collection of unused or expired prescription medications.

Police and health agencies in communities across the province will work together Saturday, May 9, to encourage residents to dispose of unused and expired prescription medication in a secure and environmentally-friendly manner.

The OPP will be making several sites available for residents to simply drop off unwanted prescription medications for disposal May 9 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Locally, Huron County residents have two sites to use this year:

  • The Maitland Valley Medical Centre, located at 180 Cambria Road North in Goderich

  • Exeter OPP Detachment located at 245 Main Street North in Exeter

For a complete list of OPP locations where you can safely drop off your meds, go to http://www.opp.ca/media/rx-drop-2015.pdf

We see results when the police, communities, health agencies and the citizens of this province work together, mobilizing for community safety and well-being. Police remind the public that all pharmacies in Ontario will accept your unused prescriptions anytime.

The public is encouraged to contact the local OPP detachment for any questions about this important community safety initiative.
