Inaugural Ainsdale Golf Classic raises $6,000 for local sports
The inaugural Ainsdale Golf Classic Tournament has been deemed a great success.
Held Saturday, Sept. 8, at Ainsdale Golf Course, south of Kincardine, the event raised $6,000 for Kincardine Minor Sports Associations, and Kincardine District Secondary School Athletics.
“We are very proud of this first classic tournament,” said organizer Taylor Candler, who owns and operates Ainsdale with her husband, Charles. “We can’t wait to continue this tournament in the future!”
The funds will go toward Kincardine minor hockey, baseball, soccer, the Kippers swim team, and the Kincardine Skating Club, as well as high school teams.
Taylor said she wanted to host the tournament as a way to give back to minor sports and high school sports which she played when she was lived in Kincardine.
“When I was growing up, I played just about every sport here,” she said, “and I became a well-rounded athlete. When I was going for that golf scholarship, my coach at Oklahoma University was looking for athletes who had played other sports.”
The classic welcomed a great crowd of golfers and featured raffle prizes, a silent auction, a delicious meal following the round of golf, and guest speakers, including Taylor, herself.
