To the Editor:
RE: “A lot of road work disruption yet, says reader”

I agree with Bill Peister. There has been a lot of disruption in Kincardine. With Broadway/Sutton Street closed, getting to the surrounding stores has been a challenge at times.

With the road work on Broadway and then starting work on Kingsway before the Broadway work was completed, also made travelling back and forth to our residences a challenge. At times, having to drive blocks out of our way to get home.

Shevchenko Boulevard has looked like a war zone since work began there in June - much worse than Broadway did.

A big thank you to the Parsons on Kingsway for offering parking on their property to the residents of Shevchenko during this time. It has been two months, and from what we have heard, this is going to continue into September and maybe October before the restoration is completed.

The traffic, with dump trucks and bulldozers along Saugeen Street to Kingsway, has also been a safety issue for pedestrians walking with children and dogs.

Living a block away and having our house shake at times while this work is being done, I can only imagine the issues the residents on Shevchenko are experiencing and what those on Cedar Lane will face.

I hope the residents who have had work done on their street, have had an independent structural engineer inspect their homes prior to this work being done. Issues may not arise immediately, but after a winter and frost, there is a possibility there could be.

Let's hope all these projects throughout Kincardine get done sooner than later, and that the restoration of residents' properties is completed to the condition they were in prior to this work being done.
