78th Fraser Highlanders are top pipe band again at Kincardine Scottish Festival
The 78th Fraser Highlanders again took the trophy for the Grade 1 Pipe Band at the 19th annual Kincardine Scottish Festival and Highland Games held July 6-8 in Victoria Park. They also had the best bass.

In second, was the Toronto Police Pipe Band.

In Grade 2, the 400 Tactical Helicopter Squadron Pipes and Drums took first, and also had the best bass, followed by:
 
  • Peel Regional Police Pipe Band
  • Great Lakes Pipe Band
  • Hamilton Police Pipe Band
  • Greater Midwest Pipe Band

In Grade 3, the Toronto Police Pipe Band was first, and had the best bass, followed by:
 
  • Guelph Pipe Band
  • Windsor Police Pipe Band
  • Chicago Celtic Pipe Band

In Grade 4, the Ryan Russell Memorial Pipe Band took first and had the best bass, followed by:
 
  • 8 Wing RCAF Pipes and Drums
  • Durham Regional Police Pipes and Drums
  • Hamilton Police Pipe Band
  • Border Cities Caledonian Pipe Band
  • Cambridge and District Pipe Band
  • Paris/Port Dover Pipe Band
  • Georgetown Pipe Band
  • London Firefighters Pipe Band

In Grade 5, the Guelph Pipe Band took first, followed by:
 
  • Paris/Port Dover Pipe Band which had the best bass
  • Peel Regional Police Pipe Band
  • Grand Celtic Pipe Band
  • Ontario Fire Services Pipes and Drums
  • London Firefighters Pipe Band
  • Flint Scottish Pipe Band

In solo results:
 
  • Professional Piper – Matt MacIsaac
  • Professional Drummer – Cameron McKail
  • Amateur Piper – Gavin MacKay
  • Amateur Drummer – Blair Beaton

There were 27 pipe band competing, and hundreds of pipers and drummers in the solo competitions.

Following the awards presentations Saturday afternoon, all the pipe bands joined in a massed band, and later some pipers and drummers marched with the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band in the Saturday Night Parade through downtown Kincardine.
