The final planning documents for the Kincardine Hospital redevelopment project have been submitted to the Ontario Ministry of Health for review and approval to proceed to an open tendering process, and construction is expected to begin in late spring or early summer next year.
“To celebrate this milestone, we are excited to share a virtual tour of the new space, showcasing what our patients, visitors, staff and physicians can look forward to,” said Nancy Shaw, president and chief executive officer of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre which operates hospitals in Kincardine, Walkerton, Chesley and Durham, in a press release, issued Friday.

The Kincardine Hospital redevelopment project includes an expansion and modernization of the emergency department, medical imaging (including an MRI - Medical Resonance Imaging - suite), laboratory, decontamination room, food services, lobby, and back of house (loading/unloading).
Capital redevelopment projects that are funded by the health ministry require a portion of
the project to be funded by the community. To date, the Kincardine and Community Health
Care Foundation has raised more than $16-million for the project through its $18-million Building Health Care for Generations capital fund-raising campaign.
“This project would not be possible without the support of the community, and the foundation for garnering that support,” said Shaw. “This is not a small project, and not a small fund-raising task for the foundation to take on. The passion and determination that we have seen from this group of community volunteers is remarkable, and on behalf of the hospital, we are sincerely grateful.”
"This milestone belongs to everyone who has supported the hospital capital campaign," said foundation president Becky Fair. "The overwhelming generosity of our community, to date, demonstrates how deeply people care about ensuring access to exceptional health care, close to home. Seeing this project request approval to move to the tendering stage is a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when an entire community works together."
