Community Foundation Grey Bruce awards more than $320,000 for local projects

Community Foundation Grey Bruce has announced the recipients of its 2026 fall community and capital grants, awarding more than $320,000 to 47 projects across Grey and Bruce counties.

This fall, 31 projects received community grants totalling $120,000, while 16 projects received capital grants totalling $200,000. These investments will support local organizations working to improve community well-being, strengthen essential services, and create more inclusive and connected communities.

This year's community grants reflect a wide range of community needs, with a strong focus on youth, mental health, accessibility, the arts, and environmental stewardship.

Demand for capital grants remained strong this year, with 27 applications requesting more than $652,000 in funding. Thanks to the Eva Leflar Endowed Fund, which provides funding for the foundation's capital grants program, approximately $200,000 was awarded to 16 projects across Grey-Bruce.

These grants support important improvements to community facilities, strengthen essential services, and create safer, more accessible spaces for residents throughout the region.

Kincardine-area projects include the following:

  • Ripley Agricultural Society, $6,994, to expand storage capacity for equipment and supplies used in the society's agricultural programs and community events.

  • Bruce Botanical Food Gardens in Ripley, $1,744, to purchase environmentally-friendly maintenance equipment to improve pathways and ensure the gardens remain accessible to visitors of all mobility levels.

  • Community Living of Kincardine and District, $2,812, to offer introductory activities and experiences that help participants build confidence, develop new skills and explore opportunities for community involvement.

  • Kincardine Environmental Action Network (KEAN), $2,000, to establish a pollinator garden at Station Beach, Kincardine, to support bio-diversity, enhance public green space and provide environmental education opportunities.

  • Ripley and District Horticultural Society, $2,400, to celebrate the society's centennial through landscaping and environmental improvements that enhance a prominent public space for the community.

"The creativity and dedication of our local charitable organizations continue to inspire us," said foundation executive director Stuart Reid. "These grants represent meaningful investments in the people, programs, and spaces that make Grey-Bruce a stronger, more connected community. We are grateful to our donors whose generosity makes this support possible."

The foundation appreciates the volunteer members of the grant review committee for their time and dedication in reviewing applications and helping direct funding where it can make a meaningful impact.
