Nancy Ellen Gibson (nee Irwin), beloved wife of the late Allan Gibson, of Lucknow died at Victoria Hospital, London, Sept. 25, 2026, in her 84th year.
Born Aug. 16 1943, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Olive (nee Thompson) Irwin.
Dear mother of Diane (Larry) Henderson, Glen (Cathy) Gibson and Brenda (Matthew) Robinson, all of Lucknow.
Loving grandmother of Haydn, Haley (Ethan), Darcie (Cole) and Spencer.
Sister of Bob (Marylou) Irwin, and sister-in-law of Beatrice Madge, Kathleen Gibson and Donnie (Dianne) Gibson.
Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her mother- and father-in-law, Marshall and Grace (nee Young) Gibson; sisters-in-law, Elaine Irwin, Phyllis Rivett (Norman) and Shirley Smith (Don); and brothers-in-law, Bill Gibson, George Madge and Jim Gibson (Eleanor).
Nancy left the family farm in Ashfield Township after high school to attend teacher’s college in Stratford. She taught for several years at a one-room schoolhouse in West Wawanosh before marrying Allan in 1963 and raising three children on the 12th of Ashfield.
She was a busy wife and mother, helping on the farm, tending to her large garden and supply teaching. Over the years she also worked at Knechtel’s Food Market, the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) office and spent several years as the bookkeeper at Glen’s Massey dealership until she finally retired at the age of 75.
Nancy was an active member of the Lucknow United Church where she taught Sunday School for many years, as well as heading social functions (catering) for more than 30 years.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, from 5-8 p.m., at the MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow.
The funeral will be held Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, at 1 p.m., at the Lucknow United Church, followed by interment in Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow.
