Kincardine Legion Corner

Kincardine Legion Corner

Let’s start off this week with a huge thank you to everyone who was involved in planning and running last weekend's Down East Lobster Feast. It was a fantastic night and we thank Lobster Jamie, Lighthouse Keeper Peter Wolfe, as well as Kathryn Hart and the kitchen gang for putting that great meal together. The Celtic Hillbillies, who travelled from Sarnia, were a big hit as well. Thanks to everyone who attended and gave us great feedback. We are already talking about doing this one again for sure!

Our September Kin Cares 50/50 draw is closing in on $13,000 and still growing. Congratulations to Jackie Bruce, who won $500 in last Friday’s first Early Bird draw. Thank you for supporting Kin Cares 50/50, Jackie. Tomorrow (Sept. 18), we will have our second Early Bird draw, so get your tickets if you haven’t already. Kin Cares 50/50 is our ultimate win-win project, funding veteran support and hospital expansion right here at home.

At the Saturday Meat Draw, Doc Roppel was the lucky double-dipper, taking home two prizes. Angie Hardy took home the $188 cash prize in the 50/50 draw. Plans are already in the works for our next Mega Meat Draw, which will be Saturday, Dec. 5.

We’ve got some exciting news if you love a great lunch deal. Starting in October, Branch 183 will be offering a daily Soup and Bun lunch special, Monday to Friday, from Noon to 2 p.m. You will get a cup of the daily flavour and a roll for just $5. You can follow our Facebook page for more information and to see what flavours will be offered.

Get ready to rock, Kincardine! Branch 183 is turning up the volume for an unforgettable night of music, community, and an incredible cause as we proudly host an epic fund-raiser for the BUILDKD-plus Campaign supporting the brand new Kincardine District Senior School. Friday, Oct. 9, will feature the phenomenal Great Canadian Duelling Pianos, as seen on Canada’s Got Talent! Doors open at 7 p.m. and the high-energy show kicks off at 8 p.m. Tickets are just $50 per person and are available now at the Legion bar, but you'll want to act fast because they are already over half sold-out and flying out the door! Expect non-stop laughter, incredible sing-alongs, and an absolute powerhouse performance from this viral sensation. If you want a quick sneak peek of the magic in store, look them up on YouTube to see how much fun they bring to the stage. Don't miss out on the party of the season, grab your tickets today before they are completely gone!

Good news, members! Our Early Bird membership renewal is on now, through the end of November at a discounted rate of $55, saving you $10 off the regular price. Renewing early automatically enters you into our fun monthly draws. If you renew this month, you will be entered for a chance to win four tickets to our upcoming Duelling Pianos performance, and if you renew in October, you'll have a shot at winning two tickets to our New Year's Eve event. If you have any questions about Early Bird renewals, feel free to ask at this Sunday’s general membership meeting. Renewing is quick and easy — you can complete your renewal on-line or drop by the Legion bar to take care of it today!

Congratulations to Team British Invasion who won last Friday’s Trivia Night at the Legion, and thanks to Laura for another fun night. Next Friday, Sept 25, is our next Music Bingo Night with all-new playlists. We noticed many people wearing band and music shirts to Music Bingo, so let’s make it a thing. Next week, wear your favourite, or maybe just your most prized, band/artist shirt to Music Bingo. As usual, we will have booklets for the five games for only $10, and food available from 6-7 p.m. The first game starts right at 7 p.m. and prizes for each game typically ramp up from about $75 to around $200 for the final game, depending on the turn-out. Hope to see you there, and bring some friends!

To wrap up this week, Branch 183 has donated $2,000 to the 2nd Kincardine Scouts, which went toward helping them secure a new trailer for all their adventures. They are currently looking for leaders to help start a troop for ages 11-14. If you are interested, reach out via their Facebook page.
