Spectators at the 29th Bruce Grey Holstein Show, held Tuesday, Aug. 26, at the Walkerton Fairgrounds, watched as judge Richard Osborne of Hagersville placed 105 head of Holsteins exhibited by breeders in Bruce, Grey and Huron Counties.
Grand Champion of the show was the mature cow class winner, “Carleton Bad to the Bone,” exhibited by Hodglynn Holsteins of Kincardine, with Reserve Champion honours going to “Genosource Double Dice-ET,” the Junior Two-Year-Old class winner shown by Hodglynn Holsteins and Crackholm Holsteins.
The Fall Yearling, “MS Crave Believe Tiffany,” exhibited by Parallel Genetics of Mildmay, was Junior Champion. Reserve Junior Champion was awarded to “Cedarholme Reebok Marsha,” the Winter Heifer class winner shown by Cedarholme Holsteins of Mount Forest.
Red and White Junior Champion was “Potluck Unstopabull Eclipse” exhibited by Cedarholme Holsteins and Potluck Holsteins of Mount Forest. Red and White Grand Champion was "Hilrose Moocin Adore-Red-Et" exhibited by Hodglynn Holsteins and Kingsway Holsteins of Kincardine.
Premier Breeder was Cedarpatch Holsteins of Mildmay, and Premier Exhibitor of the show was Hodglynn Holsteins of Kincardine.
In the morning, 51 4-H members participated in the showmanship classes. Hunter Maisonneuve was selected as Grand Champion Showperson, and Hayden Maisonneuve as Reserve Champion Showperson. Hunter and Hayden also received the Leanne Russwurm Brusso Memorial Perpetual Award for Champion and Reserve Champion Showmanship.
Grand Champion 4-H calf was shown by Alice May Connell and the Reserve Champion 4-H Calf was exhibited by Hunter Maisonneuve. The future of 4-H in Bruce and Grey Counties continues to look good, with 33 participants in the Future Showperson class (under 4-H age). This class is also sponsored by the Leanne Russwurm Brusso Memorial Award.
