“Lighthouse and Gulls" by Nova Scotian folk artist Maud Lewis, is the next print in the South Bruce Grey Health Centre - Kincardine Hospital Auxiliary's Art/Easel Program fund-raiser, on display at Sobeys Kincardine.
This is a limited edition print of the Cape Forchu Lighthouse in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. This is the second most-photographed lighthouse in Nova Scotia, and Lewis captured this beautiful oceanside scene with her vivid colours. Her paintings usually included flowers or animals and this print has seagulls that would certainly be present at the harbour.
The second print at Sobeys is entitled "The Northland" by Canadian artist Tom Thomson. This print displays the beauty of birch trees that are along the side of a lake, changing colours in the fall. Thomson spent time in Algonquin Park and his bold use of colours created some truly expressive depictions of the Canadian wilderness.
The print at the Kincardine Hospital is entitled, “Daisies All Around" by Katerina Mertikas.
The print at Rona Kincardine is entitled, “Three Black Cats" by Maud Lewis.
The print at Boston Pizza in Kincardine is entitled, "Led Zeppelin Blimp."
The print at Canadian Tire in Kincardine is entitled, "Bob Marley Relaxing."
The starting bid for each print is $215, and they are on display until Thursday, Sept. 24.
