Huron County OPP provides information about E-scooters

(HURON COUNTY, ON) - The Huron County OPP is providing up-to-date information pertaining to battery-powered scooters (E-scooters), as police are seeing a number of people, including children under the age of 16, operating them in our communities.

Two-wheeled electric scooters are becoming very popular, especially with the younger segment of our population. E-scooters are reasonably priced, portable, and fun to ride. The problem is that many people do not know what laws and restrictions apply to these vehicles.

In Ontario, municipalities can create bylaws that either allow or restrict the use of E-scooters on municipal property. Most municipalities DO NOT allow E-scooters on their roadways, sidewalks, trails, and parks. Generally, they are allowed on private property. Check with your local municipality for E-scooter information in your area.

Remember - traffic safety is everyone's responsibility!
