Long-time Kincardine home-builder, Dale Walden, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, at the home he loved at Amberley Beach, surrounded by family. He was 69.
Survived by his wife, Jill, who was his best friend for 45 years; his two sons, Brad and Mitch; daughter-in-law, Tessa; and three grandsons, Jackson, Madden, and Finn.
Deeply missed by his brothers, Bryan and Michael (Gail); and sisters-in-law, Erin and Diane (Tony).
Dale was born in Kincardine Hospital, May 13, 1957.
He created Kelden Development and built homes in Kincardine, Port Elgin and Southampton. He excelled in business and established enduring relationships in the construction industry. His legacy lives on in the homes he built in the local communities.
Friends describe Dale as sincere, warm, and easy going. People gravitated to him as he had a way of making them feel welcomed and comfortable. He was naturally curious, could strike up a conversation with anyone, and loved getting together with friends over a glass of wine, discussing politics, conspiracy theories, and coming up with ways to solve the world’s problems.
Most importantly, Dale was known for his love of family. He was immensely proud of them. Dale and Jill spent many hours cheering on their sons and grandsons in hockey rinks, as well as many family days spent at their Amberley Beach home, playing card games, soaking up the sun and fun, and boating on the shores of Lake Huron. Sleepovers were a regular event and Sunday night dinners were a staple at “Grandy and Papa’s.”
Dale valued life, treasuring every minute. His life was full of family, friends, and meaningful relationships. We should all be so lucky.
Jill is grateful for the support of family and friends. Special thanks to Neil and Sharon Geoghegan, Steve Bell, Don McGregor, John D. Matheson, Dr. Jason Murray and Dr. Damian Gunaratne, for their compassion and care during Dale’s short illness.
Dale will live on forever in our hearts. A life well lived and loved … Jill, Brad and Mitch.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, at Bar Down Restaurant, Kincardine, from 2-5 p.m.
