(ORILLIA, ON) - With increased traffic on the roads during the Civic Holiday long weekend, the OPP was patrolling the roads, trails, and waterways in our communities to help keep everyone safe.
Over the weekend, the OPP issued about 8,240 charges related to traffic and marine safety, including:
3,921 for speeding
579 for seatbelt infractions
77 for distracted driving
188 for impaired driving
128 related to compliance with Ontario's Move-Over Law
Safety is everyone's responsibility and by making safe and responsible choices, we can all help make our communities safer.
The OPP thanks all drivers and passengers who made safety a top priority this long weekend. Together, we can continue to prevent avoidable tragedies on our roads.
