SIU invokes mandate after incident in West Grey Township

(WEST GREY TWP, ON) - The province's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate following an incident that occurred in West Grey Township, two years ago.

Monday, May 13, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers from the South Bruce OPP conducted a traffic stop on Bruce County Road 10 in the Township of West Grey.

Police attempted to take one individual into custody during which the person fled from the area. The individual was later taken into custody by police and reported sustaining injuries from the incident.

Friday, July 24, 2026, the OPP was informed that the SIU invoked its mandate and will be investigating this incident.

As the SIU has invoked its mandate, the OPP will not be able to provide further information. Any media inquiries related to the SIU investigation should be directed to SIU Communications at siu.media@ontario.ca.
