The Kincardine Legion, in partnership with the Municipality of Kincardine, will host a formal dedication ceremony to unveil the community’s new commemorative Remembrance Crosswalk.
The event is part of the official 100th anniversary of the incorporation of the Royal Canadian Legion, and everyone is welcome to attend.
Funded by the municipality, the permanent "Lest We Forget" crosswalk features a respectful design of two soldiers cast against grey-and-white stripes, providing a year-round reminder of veteran sacrifices.
The Remembrance Crosswalk ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony will be held Friday, July 17, at 2:30 p.m. (rain or shine), at the west-side crossing of Lambton Street and Huron Terrace in the Town of Kincardine.
Immediately following the dedication ceremony, the Legion invites everyone to gather in the Legion Hall, located at 219 Lambton Street, for an open house, featuring free hot dogs, chips, cupcakes and entertainment by local duo, "Eton Avenue."
In honour of the 100th anniversary, for the remainder of this year, Legion membership is free.
