Ken Chaput of Lucknow remembered for his love of family, bowling and fishing

Kenneth Lorrain Joseph (Ken) Chaput of Lucknow died peacefully, May 29, 2026, at Pinecrest Manor, Lucknow. He was 90.

Born and raised on L'isle-aux-Allumettes, Quebec, Ken moved to Kitchener, Ontario, in 1966 where he and his wife, Lois, raised a family of five children. He relocated to Lucknow where he enjoyed his retirement years.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 69 years and 11 months, Lois (nee Bertrand); his children, Larry (Persida), Denise (Clay), Ed, Trina (Tim), and Tracy (Bert); his 10 grandchildren, Nick (Shahed), James, Ryan, Josh (Andria), Kyle, Randi (Donald), Nikki (Mitch), Taylor (Patrick), Tamara, and Brett; and his four great-grandchildren, Penny, Benny, Mason, Georgia, and one more on the way.

Dear brother of Robert, Theresa, Jeanne (Jean), Jacques (Jack) and Diane. Missed by his many nieces and nephews and their families.

Predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Cora Chaput; and his siblings, Judy, Nicole, Annette, Leonard, Denis, and Bernard.

Ken will be remembered for his deep love and pride for his family, and for his smile. He was outgoing and friendly, making many friends wherever he went. He was especially proud of his wife, Lois' poetry.

He had a love of lawn bowling (winning the 1985 District 7 pairs championship with his partner, Brian Broome, and the 1988 District 7 fours with his son, Larry, Bill McGregor and Harry Bullock), and five-pin bowling (including an appearance on "Bowling for Dollars"), as well as hunting, square-dancing, gardening, and fishing (at the cottage of his brother and sister-in-law on Birch Island), and was an unwavering fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Ken was a union president fighting for the rights of others. He loved to play Bingo and purchase lottery tickets, waiting for the big jackpot.

The family extends thanks to the staff members at Pinecrest Manor for their compassion and care.

We take great comfort in our memories and knowing Ken is at peace.

A public service will be held June 4, 2026, at 2 p.m., at the Mackenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow.

Interment to follow at Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow.

Donations in lieu of flowers, to the Alzheimer Society of Huron-Perth, would be appreciated by the family.
