Wolves win one, lose one, pushing finals against Seaforth to Game 5 in Ripley
The Ripley Wolves won Game 3 in Ripley, but lost Game 4 in Seaforth, pushing the Ontario Elite Hockey League (OEHL) finals against the Centenaires to Game 5, back in Ripley, this Saturday.
On home ice, Saturday night, the Wolves dominated the first 30 minutes on their way to a 4-3 win in Game 3.
Cody Britton, Garrett Meurs, Keaton McLaughlin, and Trent Houghton gave the Wolves a 4-0 lead after two periods, and the defence was able to stem a late charge by Seaforth in the third, making the game closer than the first two periods felt.
Wolves assists went to Ethan Skinner (2), Pat Looby (2), Dan Nicoloff, Meurs, Houghton and Britton.
Goalie Jason Hamilton was excellent in the Wolves net, stopping 32 of 35 shots for the win.
Sunday night in Seaforth, the Wolves lost a close game, 5-4, in overtime.
The Wolves scored late in the third period to force overtime, but the Centenaires notched the game-winner on home ice with 1:10 left in the extra frame to take a 3-1 series lead.
Ripley will try to stave off elimination on home ice, Saturday, April 25, at 7 p.m.
Game 4 scorers for Ripley were Matthew Murray, J.D. Falconer, Carter Servais, and Ethan Skinner, who tied the game with 1:16 left in the third to force OT.
Assists went to Cody Britton, Jordan Moulton, Pat Looby, and Murray.
Hamilton was stellar in the Wolves net, stopping 43 of 48, including 15 saves in overtime when the Wolves had a goal disallowed.
If necessary, Game 6 would be Sunday, April 26, at 6:30 p.m. in Seaforth, and Game 7 would be Tuesday, April 28, at 8:30 p.m. in Ripley.
