Kincardine deputy mayor resigns to take on job as deputy judge
Kincardine deputy mayor Andrea Clarke has resigned, effective immediately, to take on a significant and well-deserved opportunity in her judicial career as a deputy judge.
The municipality made the announcement in a press release, issued Monday.
Clarke has served the community with dedication, integrity, and a deep commitment to public service, states the release. Throughout her time on council, she has been a strong and consistent advocate for equity and accessibility, working to ensure that municipal programs, services, and decisions reflect the diverse needs of all residents.
Council accepts, with regret, Clarke's resignation as deputy mayor, as she is compelled by legislation to resign from her municipal responsibilities.
“Deputy mayor Clarke has made a lasting impact on our community,” said Kincardine mayor Kenneth Craig. “Her leadership, compassion, and unwavering focus on inclusion have helped shape a more equitable and accessible municipality. While we will miss her thoughtful voice at the council table, we know she will continue to serve the public with the same excellence in her new role.”
During her tenure, Clarke played a key role in advancing initiatives that strengthened community engagement, improved accessibility, and supported a more inclusive environment for residents and visitors, alike, states the release. Her collaborative approach and commitment to fairness have left a meaningful legacy.
Clarke expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve the community.
“It has been an honour to represent the residents of the Municipality of Kincardine," she said. "I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me and proud of the progress we have made together. I look forward to continuing to serve the public in this new capacity.”
Community members are invited to join council and staff for a drop-in celebration in honour of Clarke, Friday, April 17, from 5-7 p.m., in the Bruce Telecom Room at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine. Residents are welcome to stop by, share their well wishes, and recognize her contributions to the municipality and community.
The municipality extends its sincere thanks to Clarke for her years of service and wishes her every success in her new role.
Further information regarding council representation and her replacement, will be shared in the coming weeks.
