Huron County OPP report impaired driver; and theft of credit cards

IMPAIRED DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER TRAFFIC COMPLAINT

(NORTH HURON, ON) - The Huron County OPP has charged a Huron-Kinloss Township resident with impaired driving offences, following a traffic complaint in the Township of North Huron.

Just after 3 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 28, Huron County OPP officers received a complaint about a possible impaired driver whose vehicle entered a ditch. Police located the vehicle and arrested the driver for impaired operation.

The accused provided breath samples before a qualified intoxilizer breath technician at the Huron County OPP detachment in Clinton. Breath samples provided to police resulted in readings over twice the legal limit.

Joseph SCHRAM, 39, of Huron-Kinloss has been charged with:
 

• Operation while Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs
• Operation while Impaired - Over-80
• Dangerous Operation

The vehicle involved was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused's driver's licence was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich, March 9.

PERSON CHARGED AFTER STEALING CREDIT CARDS

(GODERICH, ON) - The Huron County OPP has charged an individual with nine criminal offences, following a theft from a vehicle in the Town of Goderich.

Thursday, Feb. 5, officers spoke to the victim, who indicated that his/her credit cards were stolen and recently used at a retail store in Goderich. Officers attended the store and located the suspect who was still in possession of the stolen items.

Raquel ORMENO, 27, of no fixed address has been charged with:
 

• Possession of a Credit Card - (three counts)
• Use of Credit Card - (three counts)
• Failure to Comply with Release Order - (three counts)

The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody with a future court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice - Goderich.
