Ripley Winter Carnival set for Feb. 13-14
Everyone is welcome to join in the fun and excitement at the annual family-favourite event, the Ripley Winter Carnival, Feb. 13-14, at the Ripley-Huron Community Centre.
Embrace the chill of winter with a variety of activities, including:
- Costume Skate, Friday, Feb. 13, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., sponsored by the Ripley Lions Club and the Ripley Agricultural Society - kick off the winter carnival by wearing your favourite costume, dress to impress and you might win a prize!
- Huron-Bruce Minor Hockey games, Saturday, Feb. 14, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and 3:30-5 p.m. - cheer on your hometown teams!
- Pancake Breakfast, Saturday, Feb. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - enjoy pancakes, eggs, ham and toast, served by your dedicated Huron-Kinloss council and staff volunteers. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children under age 12, and free for children under age five; and $25 for family of four.
- Horse-drawn sleigh rides, Saturday, Feb. 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. - enjoy a sleigh ride through the fields beside the Ripley-Huron Community Centre, thanks to Jim and Fran Farrell of Farhope Farms near Ripley.
- Bruce County Library Bookmobile, Saturday, Feb. 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. - stop by the mobile library designed to bring the joy of reading and learning directly to communities in Bruce County.
- Fire truck displays, Saturday, Feb. 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. - meet Ripley's firefighters, tour a fire truck and learn some fire safety, thanks to the Ripley-Huron Fire Department.
- Ice-painting, Saturday, Feb. 14, from 1-2 p.m. - create a masterpiece on the Ripley Arena ice surface; parent supervision is required on the ice surface, sponsored by the Ripley Agricultural Society.
- Euchre and Bridge tournaments, Saturday, Feb. 14, from 1:30-3:30 p.m., at Rosewood RVilla Retirement Living in Ripley - drop in, warm up from the chilly weather, and enjoy a fun game of euchre or bridge and a chance to win prizes.
- Hockey skills competition, Saturday, Feb. 14, from 5-6 p.m. - let the Ripley Wolves be the judge of your hockey skills, with prizes awarded in a number of categories.
- Public skating, Saturday, Feb. 14, from 6-7 p.m. - sponsored by the Ripley Wolves.
- Ripley Wolves hockey game, Saturday, Feb. 14, 7:30-10 p.m.
This Ripley Winter Carnival is organized by the Huron-Kinloss community services department and supported by several generous community sponsors.
