Blue Box program in Huron-Kinloss changing, effective Jan. 1, 2026
Ontario’s Blue Box program is changing, effective Jan. 1, 2026.

Here’s what Huron-Kinloss homeowners should know:

The program will shift from municipal to producer responsibility. This means the companies that create and supply packaging will manage residential recycling across the province.

Here’s what this means for Huron-Kinloss homeowners:

WHAT STAYS THE SAME

  • Your Blue Box will continue to be collected at the curb

WHAT’S NEW

  • More materials will be accepted, including corrugated cardboard and coffee cups

WHAT’S ENDING

  • Public recycling depots and cardboard bins in Point Clark, Ripley, and Lucknow will be removed

View a full list of accepted materials on the Circular Materials website (the organization overseeing the new system): www.circularmaterials.ca/resident-provinces/ontario/.

If you are a business/institution, visit the Huron-Kinloss website for how this will affect you: www.huronkinloss.com/.../ontarios-blue-box.../.
