Kincardine Legion Corner
Linda Carvell won $1,085 in the
Catch the Ace draw. She chose Envelope No. 9 which contained the Jack of Spades, We’ve jump-started this round’s jackpot with $14,340 from our previous winnings — so the jackpot is locked in at a minimum of $14,340 and won’t start growing until ticket sales exceed that amount. So be sure to get your tickets for next week, and help us push the big jackpot even higher!
At the
Saturday Meat Draw, Cathy Alcombrack was our only double-dipper. Scott Allen won the 50/50 Draw and took home $138. Someday, we should track some stats and see who wins often, but I think if we did, we would see that Scott has really good luck, as I feel as if I type his name a lot in this section!
Have you got your team signed up for the
Legion Golf Tournament, happening Sunday, Sept. 28? You just need to register and pay for your team at the Legion Bar. Please reach out to Cathy Alcombrack if you have any questions.
There's still some room for a few more teams for tomorrow night’s
Trivia Night (Friday, Sept. 5). It's always a fun-filled night with our host Laura throwing out those tricky questions!
We are now in the
Early Bird campaign when you can renew your Legion membership from now until the end of November and save some money. The renewal price is $55 and for veterans it's only $50. If you have any questions about renewal, just speak to our friendly membership chairperson Kim and she can help you out. Also, you can renew on-line as well. Another good spot to get your renewal all done and complete is at a Saturday Meat Draw, as Kim is usually around with the forms. So don’t delay, renew today!
Tickets are now on sale at the Legion Bar, at a cost of $25 each, for
The Ballaghs concert, Saturday, Dec. 13. You can also still grab some tickets for our
3rd Annual Lulu’s Band Hootenanny, Sept. 27; cost is $40 each.
Next Saturday, Sept. 13, Branch 183 will be a stop on the
Kincardine Art Crawl and our public relations officer Glenn (hey, that's me) will be around to showcase a variety of images and videos and demonstrate some A.I. content tools and workflows. So stop in if you're at all curious about this new technology. Glenn will be in the Veterans Lounge from 10 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m., and you can even stick around afterwards for the Saturday Meat Draw.
Other September happenings include the
Zone Convention, Sunday, Sept. 14, and our
Branch General Meeting, Sunday, Sept. 21, at 2 pm.
Later in the month, Sunday, Sept. 21, from 2-5 p.m., the
Lighthouse Swing Band will be at the Legion once again, and the theme of the night is ‘Swing Stars of Broadway.’ Admission to the dances is ‘Pay What You Can,’ with a suggested $10-$20 range. Professional dance instructor Carmen Coburn will be present to teach ballroom and line dancing steps (free to all attendees).
