New playground officially opened at St. Anthony’s School in Kincardine
Primary students at St. Anthony’s School in Kincardine were thrilled to finally get to climb the new play structure on the first day of school, as the playground was officially opened, Tuesday morning.
The handicapped-accessible space is for students in Kindergarten and Grade 1 and was located close to the addition on the north side of the school.
The St. Anthony’s parent council began fund-raising for this project more than 10 years ago. It was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic and while the addition was being built, and the final cost came in at about $100,000.
Principal Jocelyn Auger welcomed everyone to the official ribbon-cutting to open the playground, and thanked the parent council for its hard work and dedication to seeing this proposal come to fruition. “I hope this will be a place of joy and community,” she said.
“Wow, look at this playground,” said Jonathon Jones, co-chairman of the parent council. “This shows what we can do when we work together as a team. Thank you to everyone for your generous contributions, kindness and support.”
Father Thomas Manninezhath blessed the playground and the ribbon was cut, opening it for the students to enjoy.
