Kincardine, Lucknow breeders take grand champion, reserve at Bruce Grey Holstein Show

Kincardine, Lucknow breeders take grand champion, reserve at Bruce Grey Holstein Show
Spectators watched as Kevin McGriskin of Melancthon, placed 98 head of Holsteins, exhibited by breeders in Bruce, Grey and Huron counties, at the 28th Bruce Grey Holstein Show, Tuesday, at the Walkerton Fairgrounds.

Grand Champion of the show was the senior two-year-old cow class winner, “Hodglynn Alpha Aspen,” exhibited by Hodglynn Holsteins of Kincardine, with Reserve Champion honours going to “Dutchdale Bautista Marie,” the production class winner, shown by Dutchdale Farms (Perry and Matt Van Osch) of Lucknow.

The summer yearling, “Patience Brayden Cindy-Lou,” exhibited by Bill Gibson, Parallel Genetics and Patience Holsteins Ltd. of Mildmay, was Junior Champion. Reserve Junior Champion was awarded to “Marfloacres Major Lynley,” the winter heifer class winner, shown by Cedarholme Holsteins, Potluck Holsteins of Mount Forest.

Premier Breeder was Hodglynn Holsteins of Kincardine and Premier Exhibitor of the show was Cedarholme Holsteins, Potluck Holsteins of Mount Forest.

In the morning, 32 4-H members participated in the Showmanship classes. Delaney Hopkins was selected as Grand Champion Showman, and Robert Goodwill as Reserve Champion Showman. Delaney and Robert also received the Leanne Russwurm Brusso Memorial Perpetual Award for Champion and Reserve Champion Showmanship.

Grand Champion 4-H calf was shown by Makenna Potter and the Reserve Champion 4-H Calf was exhibited by Charlotte Woodhouse. The future of 4-H in Bruce and Grey counties continues to look good with 35 participants in the Future Showman class (under 4-H age). This class is also sponsored by the Leanne Russwurm Brusso Memorial Award.
