Huron-Kinloss Township issues partial open-air fire ban
Due to extreme temperatures, lack of substantial precipitation, and an unfavourable long-range weather forecast, the Township of Huron-Kinloss has issued a partial open-air ban for all open-air fires, effective immediately.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Burning of brush or yard waste
- Burning of trees or wood debris
- Burning of old farm buildings or other structures
- Burn barrels
All open-air burn permits are suspended until further notice.
What is still allowed: Beach fires with approved permit, and small, contained recreational fires used for warmth or cooking, are permitted only in approved fire pits.
Huron-Kinloss fire chief Jeff Bradley reminds all residents and visitors to exercise extreme caution with any outdoor fire activity, even those permitted, to help prevent fires and ensure public safety.
Never leave your fire unattended and always have means of extinguishment available to put the fire out. Thank you for your co-operation and understanding.
