Durham Street Bridge in Walkerton closed due to flooding
The South Bruce OPP and Bruce County are both reporting that the Durham Street Bridge in downtown Walkerton is closed to through traffic, until further notice, due to the high water level and large debris impacting the construction platform.

Emergency vehicles, including fire, emergency medical services and police, will be permitted to use the bridge when responding to calls, states a press release from the county.

Motorists are advised to use the posted Alternative Truck Routes for the duration of the Durham Street Bridge Closure:

  • Northerly Alternative Truck Route: Bruce County Road 19 → Concession 8 (Brant) → Bruce County Road 3
  • Southerly Alternative Truck Route: Grey County Road 10 → Concession 10E (Carrick) → Highway 9

A link to the posted alternate truck routes is available here: Alternative Truck Route.

The county is closely monitoring conditions and will provide updates as more information becomes available. Motorists are encouraged to follow posted detours and allow for extra travel time.

For the latest updates, visit the Bruce County Website or follow Bruce County Facebook.

The South Bruce OPP advises that the bridge, located between McNab Street and William Street in Walkerton, and Yonge Street North, from Durham street to Valleyside Drive, are now both closed due to flooding.
