Local karate students bring home medals from Trenton tournament

October 30, 2024

Nine students with the Kincardine Karate Dojo brought home medals from a charity tournament, held Saturday (Oct. 26), in Trenton.

All proceeds from the event went to “Cooked With Love,” an organization that provides meals to those in need, as well as helping homeless people to find housing, reunite with family, and re-enter society. A representative from the organization thanked everyone for attending and explained how the funds would be used to help those in need. The tournament raised $1,500 for the charity.

This was the first year for the competition in Trenton, but organizers hope to make it an annual event.

Nine students from Kincardine, ranging in age from eight to over 40, from white belt to brown belt, made the trip to Trenton. They did very well, learning a lot and enjoying the experience. It takes great courage and confidence to get up in front of a panel of judges and compete. They did themselves proud!

At the end of the day, the nine students brought home 13 medals!
