The sixth annual Kincardine 7K Trail Run drew 232 racers for the event, held Saturday, Sept. 21, at Station Beach and throughout the trail system.
Organized by Victoria Clarke and her husband, Fraser, and for the first time this year, their son, Maverick, the race is in support of the Kincardine Trails Association.
Clarke said the trail run has been a labour of love for her family since it began in 2016.
“This year, we're excited to involve our son, Maverick, in the process,” she said. “He’s already helped by choosing the race shirt colour — orange.
“As teachers from London, we have always been passionate about promoting physical activity and mental health, and we saw the beautiful trails in Kincardine as the perfect place to encourage both. Despite not being residents of Kincardine, we spend our weekends and summers here because we simply love the area.
“In the early days, we would run these trails and notice how few people we encountered, and that sparked the idea: Why not create a race that promotes these hidden gems and encourages others to get outside, improve their mental well-being, and enjoy the beauty of the trails?
“Our event has grown year-after-year, and this was our biggest yet. It’s amazing to see how the race has become a staple in the community, continuing to attract more participants each year from near and far. We’ve been incredibly fortunate to have steadfast support from our friends, Ash and Tonya, at West Shore Surf Shoppe.
“For us, the trail run is more than just a race — it’s about giving back to a community that feels like a second home. We are thrilled to be part of something that brings people together, gets them moving, and showcases the incredible trails that Kincardine has to offer.”
