POLICE INVESTIGATING FATAL CRASH
(GREENOCK TWP, ON) – Sept. 8, at 7:18 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received the report of a two-vehicle crash on Bruce County Road 20 in Greenock Township. Officers responded to find that a black GMC pick-up truck and a white cube van were involved in a head-on collision.
A passenger in the cube van was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification. The driver of the cube van was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Both occupants of the pick-up truck were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The OPP Traffic Collision Investigation Unit is assisting the South Bruce OPP with this incident.
Bruce County Road 20 was closed between Bruce County Road 15 and Bruce County Road 1 for the protection of emergency responders. Motorists were asked to respect the closure and avoid the incident area.
IMPAIRED DRIVER CAUGHT GAMBLING WITH YOUR SAFETY
(HURON TWP, ON) – Sept. 7, at 10:03 p.m., a South Bruce OPP officer on patrol along Bruce County Road 86 in Huron Township, noticed a white GMC Sierra pick-up truck moving at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle speed was displayed on radar at more than 140 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. The truck was stopped and the driver was found to have been drinking alcohol. Fifty-two-year-old John WOOTTON of Cambridge has been charged with impaired driving, operate over-80 milligrams, possess a controlled substance, race a motor vehicle and drive with open liquor. He is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 5, to answer to the charges.
IMPAIRED DRIVER CAUGHT AT RIDE CHECK
(ELMWOOD, ON) – Sept. 4, at 10:50 p.m., members of the South Bruce OPP were conducting RIDE check on Main Street in Elmwood when a black Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck was stopped.
Officers noticed that the driver had been drinking alcohol. Sixty-two-year-old David WITTER of Hanover was charged with impaired driving and operate over-80 milligrams. He is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 28, to answer to the charge.
IMPAIRED DRIVER FACING DAY IN COURT
(BRANT TWP, ON) – Sept. 3, at 10:07 p.m., a South Bruce OPP officer on patrol along Bruce County Road 10 in Brant Township, stopped a silver Honda Civic.
The officer found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. Twenty-four-year-old Nathan COURTNEY of Chesley has been charged with impaired driving and refuse breath sample. He is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 28, to answer to the charges.
