The Kincardine Bulldogs and the U13 Kinucks celebrated the game of hockey on the outdoor rink beside Harbour Church in Kincardine, Sunday afternoon.
The event began with Sarah Durre of the Canadian Mental Health Association Grey-Bruce, speaking about the “Talk Today” program which offers mental health education and awareness for young athletes.
“We are working with the OHL (Ontario Hockey League) and minor sports, providing training for players, coaches and parents to help identify mental health issues in the athletic community,” she said. “We’re here to talk about your mental health.”
The Kinucks then had a chance to skate with the Bulldogs as the players formed two teams and took to the ice to enjoy the game.
The U13 Kinucks have won the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup Early Bird grand prize, and Rogers Sportsnet will be at the Davidson Centre this Saturday, Feb. 5, to film the team in action and, eventually, the footage will be used to introduce a Hockey Night in Canada broadcast.
