TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO FRAUD INVESTIGATION
(BRANT TWP, ON) – Aug. 25, at 2:05 p.m., a South Bruce OPP officer on patrol, stopped a white Chevrolet Cruze. The officer found that the driver’s licence was suspended and a large number of credit cards was noticed in the car.
Members of the South Bruce OPP Crime Unit assisted the officer at the roadside. The investigation culminated with the arrest of two men:
Twenty-six-year-old Carlos TAPIA of Toronto has been charged with drive while suspended, possess a controlled substance, two counts of possess stolen property and possess device to copy credit cards.
Twenty-nine-year-old Daniel GRANDON of Mississauga has been charged with possess a controlled substance, utter forged document, two counts of possess stolen property, possess device to copy credit cards and breach of probation.
A large quantity of pre-paid credit cards and gift cards was seized from the vehicle.
Both men were held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing Aug. 26.
OPP DRUG WARRANT EXECUTED
(BROCKTON, ON) – Aug. 26, the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit, with the assistance of the West Region Emergency Response Team, and South Bruce OPP, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a property on Bruce County Road 20, in the Municipality of Brockton.
As a result of the execution of the search warrant, police seized cannabis marijuana plants, cannabis marijuana, and cannabis resin. The estimated, combined value of the seized controlled substances is $687,000.
Police also seized offence-related property that consisted of marijuana and cannabis resin production equipment and marijuana trafficking equipment.
Fifty-one-year-old James QUINN of Brockton was arrested and charged with production of marijuana, possession of marijuana for the purposes of trafficking, production of cannabis resin, and possession of cannabis resin.
QUINN was held for a bail hearing Aug. 27.
