Evelyn Hackett, formerly of Lucknow, dies at the age of 88

Evelyn Marguerite Hackett, formerly of Lucknow, beloved wife and best friend of the late D.A. Hackett for 66 years, died Dec. 19, 2021, in Guelph. She was 88.

Proud mother of Joan and Terry Hays, Lori and Gary Melitzer, and Paul and Ellen Hackett.

Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Richard Hays, Dennis and Amber Hays, Sara and Josh Pond, Amie and Michael Gray, Alyssa and Shane Burke, and Dylan Hackett; and four great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by her parents. Alex and Lavina Leaver; sisters, Jean Walker and Doris Leaver (infancy); brothers-in-law, George, Alvin, and Howard; sister-in-law, Barb; and grandson, Alexander Hackett.

Survived by her sister-in-law, Zita Hackett.

Evelyn worked alongside her husband, D.A., for years on the farm. They were members of Trinity United Church in Ashfield Township, and she was a long-time member of the United Church Women.

A private family funeral service will be held at MacKenzie and McCreath Funeral Home, Lucknow.

Interment, Greenhill Cemetery, Lucknow.
