Group of seniors completes 6,000-piece puzzle at Forbes Lambton Court
It took a year to complete, but a group of seniors at Forbes Lambton Court in Kincardine, has put together a 6,000-piece puzzle.
Christine Moulton and June McGregor spearheaded the project, with the help of others in the building, located on Lambton Street in downtown Kincardine.
"We do puzzles here in the lounge all the time," said Moulton. "So, my daughter brought in this one, and we took on the challenge."
She said the group opened up the puzzle Jan. 7, 2014, and finished it before the end of the year.
Back in February, fellow residents Helen and Bob Finlayson brought a clipping from the "Toronto Star" to the group, showing a picture that indicates the puzzle depicts Germany's "Neuschwanstein Castle (Schloss)." The Finlaysons have visited the castle.
Moulton said the group worked on the project many afternoons, sometimes for three to four hours at a time and managing to get only a few pieces to fit, particularly as they completed the final portion of sky.
"We spent a lot of hours putting pieces in and out," she said, "and we did lose one piece."
The puzzle has been glued together, and the group hopes to hang it up in the lounge.
"If it hadn't been for June (McGregor), we wouldn't even have started it," said Moulton. "I'm not sure what we're going to do next. This puzzle was sure a great conversation piece."
