Off the Broom: Registration for 2021-22 season is strictly on-line

The fall season has just barely arrived and although the game of curling is mainly thought of as a winter sport, it will be only a few days before the Kincardine Curling Club begins the process of putting in the ice for another season.

Registration for  2021-22 has begun and is being done only on-line this year. If you are a past member, present member or perhaps you have never curled but are interested in joining or to just see what the club has to offer for draws, just go to our web page at sites.google.com/site/kincardinecurlingclub/home. This page has some of our upcoming events and rental information as well. There will also be clinics held for new curlers and experienced curlers.

One of our most recent events was the annual golf tournament, Sept. 19, at Ainsdale Golf Course. The day could not have been better with warm temperatures, sunny skies and enthusiastic golfers. There was an abundance of draw prizes, thanks to the many sponsors and others who donated to the prize table. Eighteen teams enjoyed a scrumptious dinner when the golf was over. Our thanks to all who participated to make this another successful fund-raiser, bringing in $4,389 for our club.

Port Elgin is hosting the 2022 men’s Provincial Tankard in February. Although this is a long way off, tickets will go quickly as this event presents the opportunity to watch some of the best curlers in southern Ontario compete for the chance to represent Ontario in the Brier. We are able to sell tickets for this event and hope, if you are interested, you will make the purchase from our club as we get a percentage of the sales. Not often is an event like this happening as close to home as this.

See you on the ice, come November!
