Golf Fore Kids' Sake set for Sept. 10-11

The Golf Fore Kids’ Sake Weekend of Golf, in support of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Kincardine and District, will take place Sept. 10-11 at Blackhorse Golf Course.

This year, the event will feature three golf tournaments in two days. The men’s tournament, Friday, Sept. 10; the women’s, Saturday, Sept. 11; and new this year, a co-ed tournament, also Friday, Sept. 10.

The tournaments will begin at Noon and include 18 holes of golf, carts, a gourmet boxed lunch, swag bag and more. Registration is $550/team or $137.50/person. Early bird pricing of $500/team or $125/person is available until July 19.

“We are so thankful that we will be able to host our Golf Fore Kids’ Sake again this year,” said executive director Yolanda Ritsema. “Fund-raising has been be very challenging over the past year, so it’s wonderful that golf is one fund-raiser we can host. We are especially excited to add a co-ed tournament to our line-up this year.”

“My son started with Big Brothers, helping out with the 'Big Bunch' meetings, and has since been a mentor to two Little Brothers,” said Jim Beaton, Golf Fore Kids’ Sake planning team member. “Seeing the impact of the program on the Littles and the mentors through my son's involvement, has shown me the benefits the program offers to both parties.

“I decided to help with the golf tournament organizing team this year to do my part to ensure that Big Brothers and Big Sisters can continue to support the young people in Kincardine and surrounding areas who might benefit from a little extra support through those development years. The golf tournament provides a fun afternoon with friends and an opportunity for us to sponsor this great program.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has made it tough to keep fund-raising activities viable, but the needs of these kids doesn't go away. We hope that the Golf Fore Kids’ Sake tournament will be another success this year and continue to grow in the years to come.”

Golf Fore Kids’ Sake is a major fund-raiser for this youth organization which specializes in enabling life-changing mentoring relationships to ignite the power and potential of young people in southern Bruce County.
