Kincardine firefighters from the Tiverton station were called to the scene of a single-vehicle accident Monday evening after a van ended up in the ditch on King Street, just past the 2nd Concession, north of Tiverton.
According to reports from the scene, it appears the van was travelling northbound when it slowly crossed into the southbound lane, and hit a hydro pole. There was a big blue flash when the van hit the pole and broke part of it, resulting in a power outage in Tiverton.
The van landed in the ditch facing southbound. Firefighters were able to free the driver using the jaws of life, and he was taken to hospital by ambulance. The road was closed for a period of time.
