MARGARET LOUISE CALE (STRICKER)
March 31, 2026
Margaret Louise Cale (Stricker) of Point Clark died Tuesday, March 31, 2026, surrounded by family, at the age of 72. Born and raised in Kitchener, Margaret spent most of her summers, in her youth, at her family cottage in Lurgan Beach where she met her husband, Gordon, at the Pine River Boat Club. They lived for 27 years near Paisley, in a beautiful family home that they built with their own hands. During those years, they spent the summers with their children at their cottage on the beach in Point Clark which later, they rebuilt into a full-time home. This is where she lived, watching waves and sunsets the rest of her life. Margaret leaves her husband and partner of 52 years, Gordon Cale; her three children, Graham (Staci), Bradley and Sarah (Andre) Ulloa; and four grandchildren; Frank, Bay, Ruby, and Holland. Predeceased by her parents, Sydney and Franklin Stricker; and her sister, Holly Ewing. A member of both the Kincardine Sunset Quilters' Guild and the New Millennium Quilt Guild of Walkerton, her talent was recognized with multiple quilts appearing in the Quilt Canada magazine, including one on the cover. A graduate of the University of Waterloo, with a double Honours degree in Man-Environment and Biology, she worked for the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority for seven years before beginning a sewing business and raising her children. Never advertising, word of mouth brought a steady stream of clients to her door. Margaret enjoyed swimming in Lake Huron, knitting, reading, yoga, curling, cross-county skiing, and walking in Point Clark. She cared deeply for the environment with incredible knowledge of butterflies, birds, and plant species in the region. Travel experiences in the past 15 years, took Margaret and Gord to 29 countries, including China, Ecuador, Iceland, and Portugal. To celebrate 50 years of marriage, they took a memorable trip hiking 60 kilometres of the West Highlands in Scotland, ending with a renewal of vows at a castle chapel near Aberdeen. A celebration of her life will be held on her birthday, July 11, 2026, in Point Clark. Details to come. When the decision was made to accept her condition, her words were, “A million things yet to do and no time.” The family asks that donations in her name be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Kincardine and Community Health Care Foundation. The staff at Kincardine Hospital was amazing, treating her with kindness and respect. Donations and condolences may be made on-line at www.daveylinklaterfuneralhome.com.
