BARBARA ULCH
July 5, 2025
Barbara Ulch, formerly of Kincardine, died peacefully, July 5, 2025, in Abbotsford, British Columbia, just shy of the age of 91. Though her journey here has come to a close, her remembrance remains deeply felt by all who knew and loved her. Known affectionately as “GG” to her great-grandchildren, Barb was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was grandma of five, and great-grandma of three - a role she embraced with humour, pride, and boundless love. Barb had a heart full of creativity and care. She had a gift for making people feel welcomed and special - often with handmade gifts, thoughtful cards, or a fresh plate of her signature butter tarts. Whether you were a new neighbour or a life-long friend, Barb always found a way to make you feel at home. She was thoughtful, funny, and never afraid to speak her truth - a quality her loved ones came to admire. With an eye for fashion and design, Barb was always stylish in bright, co-ordinated outfits and had a knack for making any space feel more beautiful. Her creativity wasn’t just in how things looked, but in how she made others feel: seen, cared for, and included. She had a life-long love for Elvis, a soft spot for red cardinals and orchids, and a growing collection of angel figurines that mirrored her generosity. Life handed her challenges - cancer, a heart attack, and other health hurdles - but she met each one with remarkable resilience and warmth. Through it all, she remained strong, social, and endlessly kind. Barb was a proud long-time resident of Kincardine, Ontario, where she and her husband, Wes (predeceased), raised their two children. From city life to small-town charm, and eventually across the country to British Columbia, Barb never stopped building connections and sharing joy. A true social butterfly, she was always up for a game of cards, a round of bingo, or a visit over coffee. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Jim (Norman Wells, Northwest Territories), and grandsons, Marco (Morinville, Alberta) and Chris (St. Albert, Alberta); and by her daughter, Diane (Harry, Abbotsford, British Columbia), and their children, granddaughter, Nadine (Jamie) and great-grandson, Thaylo (Nelson, British Columbia), grandson, Jason (lovingly remembered), and granddaughter, Chrissy (Grant) with great-grandchildren, Tycho and Luna (Salt Spring Island, British Columbia). She leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy of love. She was truly one of a kind. Portrait and memorial on-line at www.daveylinklaterfuneralhome.com.
